He was born in Chennai, to Margaret and George C Vedamuthu. His childhood was greatly influenced by his paternal aunt Late. Ida Vedamuthu a well known educationist and musician in the city of Madras. This influence was the cause for Solomon’s great passion for music, dance and the fine arts. His passion to teach also stems from this very influence.

Having had his high schooling at M.C.C School, Chetpet, Chennai, his Pre-University studies at The Madras Christian College, Chennai , he pursued his under graduation at School of Architecture and Planning, Chennai (now a constituent college of Anna University). A very talented natural artist, with a highly creative mind, he had an enjoyable, interesting and memorable college life.

          As a young and budding architect and designer, he valued visual appeal more than emotional empathy and his study of architecture became contentious. However, time and experience changed his perception and outlook; and today, he is able to look back without that strong judgemental and intolerant view of youth. These experiences have proved invaluable, as they now serve to guide similar young minds through their difficult paths.

He married Ranee Menezes, his junior in college and the most invaluable outcome of that is an only child, a beautiful daughter, and the apple of their eye Ishita Vedamuthu who is at present studying Architecture.

After graduating in Architecture he joined Ar.Jasper Dawson in Hyderabad for a year. He then teamed up with his college mates Peter and Rajappa to form Peter Rajappa Solomon, an Architectural Firm. Their work received much acclaim and they executed a number of projects together. As an individual venture, SVA(Solomon Vedamuthu Associates) came into existence in the year 1984. Among the number of projects he executed under this banner, a few residences, a four star hotel at Pondicherry and a church at Chittoor are memorable architectural creations that remain close to his heart.
